Why Adventure is Important
Adventure Up!
Adventure turns out to actually be healthy for you! Getting outside of your comfort zone and doing something positive and healthy can have long-lasting physical and mental rewards. I'm all for relaxing around the pool but jumping on a boat to the blue waters and jumping in gets my juices flowing. Swimming, kicking, floating, following turtles or drifting past the coral reef stimulates a lot more of my body and mind.
A recent U.S. study found that the physical aspects of adventure travel can actually help grow your hippocampus, reducing the risk for memory loss and dementia. The mental boost you get from adventure travel can be even more significant than the physical one.
A 2001 Japanese study stated 1 day of travel improves your immune system for a week. Wilderness visits (maybe underwater would count as well) improves immune and cortisol levels (stress hormone) for a month. And you sleep better.
Adventure travel increases your exercise and you still come back refreshed and energized plus your daily cares and challenges are put on hold and dissolve with the setting sun. Come on, lets go!
