The Benefits of Diving Dry

Drysuits are certainly not a modern invention, but you’d be hard pressed to find someone not wearing one that isn’t tropical diving. And they come with a whole hosts of benefits, too!

  1. Warmth. Obviously, the main reason people get into drysuit diving is to stay extra toasty during their dives. This comes with a host of benefits, too. The warmer you are, the less stressed you are. The less stressed, the less apt you are to make poor decision or gain anxiety throughout your dive. By taking the ever present factor of hypothermia (almost) entirely out of the equation, your mind is free to focus more on your dive.

  2. Extended dive season. No longer are you limited by that pesky winter season, or waiting for Spring to just hurry up already to dive! Now you can (quite literally) dive all year round, depending on your bravery!

  3. Buoyancy. Though drysuits do add another layer of complexity to your buoyancy control, it may make you better for it! The more you dive with a drysuit, the more you’ll have to hone and master your buoyancy skills. Then, when you are diving a wetsuit it’ll be second nature!
