What's the Deal with Full Face Masks?

Image: Oceantribe.CO

Originally reserved for commercial divers and the military, full face masks are making their mark in the world of recreational diving. But what are their benefits?

One of the most obvious would be the ability to talk to your dive team underwater. For some, like commercial workers, this is a blessing! But many dive to escape the noise, not hear more.

Additionally, you can breathe a in a more natural way like on land. Nose breathers unite, because both nose and mouth inhalations/exhalations are possible here. Just breathe like you normally would and you don’t have to focus on that pesky reg getting knocked out of your mouth.

Finally, NO MORE FOG! Well, kinda. Your inhalations now breathe fresh tank air over your visor as well as into your lungs, so with every breath your mask becomes unfogged. You may find, however, that towards the end of your dive you are fogging up with your exhalations, so it may be worth putting a little defog in just in case.
