Service your gear before you go!!!  Such a pain in the neck to get it done on your vacation and a lot more expensive. 

Check Batteries and bring spares. If rechargeable then test because they can wear out with time and use. Might replace if they are old. 

Passport MUST have 6 months minimum left to leave the country. 5 months and 29 days is not enough even for a 1 week trip. Trust me I have seen someone left behind because of 1 day less.

Currency exchange is more expensive at the airport than at your destination. 

Check if your health insurance covers you on international trips.

Dive insurance is sooo worth it. Very affordable. DAN is great.
