The Megalodon... Is It Real??

Numerous shows during shark week would have you believe that Megalodon is alive and well today. Sensationalism sells media and Shark week is entertainment. Fuzzy pictures, snippets of fins crossing an underwater camera at depth and obvious faked photos is the evidence they promote. Most photos are of basking sharks or whale sharks if you look closely. 

There are no fossilized skeletal remains as their skeleton was cartilage. Fossilized teeth remain and their size gives us the ability to guess the size of the animal at 30 to 60 ft.  With global fishing for centuries, drag nets, long lines, deep nets, and trawling and dredge nets we humans have pretty much covered most of the oceans. No tangible evidence has ever been found to support a modern living Megalodon shark.  If you see one, take a picture for me.
