Do I Need A New Mask?
There’s no shortage of gear choices in the world of diving, and masks are the most important piece in our opinion. It is quite literally your window to the underwater world, so if you have a leaky or ill fitting mask you’re not going to have an enjoyable dive. So how do you know if you need to replace it? For starters, research the material. If it’s an older style not made of pure silicone, it may not be as flexible and more prone to cracking. Be sure to check this before your next vacation, or better yet, bring a spare mask! Also, double check your strap. A broken strap is a more common issue than a broken mask. Again, spare silicone straps or padded slap straps are a must for save-a-dive kits.
