When it comes to Australian diving, most people are prone to checking out the Great Barrier Reef and not much else. With nearly 1500 miles of interconnected reef, it’s a no brainer if it’s your first time. But there are several other spots with just as much biodiversity and great diving!

The coastal city of Bundaberg, for example, is home to the lesser known Southern Great Barrier Reef, and offers several coral outcrops, wrecks, and plenty of island hopping to fulfill a vacation’s worth of diving. Another great spot is just outside of Townsville where you can dive the famous Underwater Museum of Art; truly a site like no other. Finally, Wolf Rock makes for a great getaway if you’re in Queensland. Home to several great pelagic dives and larger animals, it’s a great option for multiday diving.
