Stress & Rescue: More Than Just A Class
The diver stress and rescue class is so much more than your typical specialty. Though long regarded as a highly advanced course, we believe this course is integral to ANY diver’s training; that’s why SSI doesn’t require an advanced prerequisite to take it!
The main goal of the stress and rescue class is to expand the scope of our underwater experiences beyond ourselves. That can mean having a keener eye on your buddy, the environment, and other fellow divers / marine life. It trains you how to react appropriately to varying dive hazards and emergencies (and for fellow readers of Scuba Diving Magazine where there’s monthly coverage of dive accidents, we know there can be a LOT to deal with). Overall, the stress and rescue class serves to heighten your own safety and those around you. Plus, many divers regard it as the most fun class they’ve ever taken! I mean, who wouldn’t want to tow limp buddies around the pool?
Have you taken the stress and rescue specialty? What did you like most about it?
