What Is A "Blackwater" Dive?

Though not offered at most dive shops, a blackwater dive is a must-do dive for any avid aquanaut. A blackwater dive is exactly what it sounds like: you and a crew go miles offshore, hang tethers off the boat (generally less than 60 feet) over thousands of feet of depth, and hang on the line with lights at the bottom. Then, slowly but surely, all of the ocean’s wacky and wild critters will float by and put on amazing light show for you! A quick google search can show you some of the spectacular animals that people have seen on these dives, and you’re almost guaranteed to see something you’ve never seen before!
